Public Art
Escape works with professional artists to develop public art in locations across Warwickshire, ranging from thousands of messages of hope during the pandemic, to a giant birthday cake for Shakespeare's birthday!

Our Recent Commissions
Our recent work involves a large scale public art engagement project ‘Cradle to Grave’ at Warwick Hospital, transforming spaces across clinical settings.
Escape can also be commissioned to create individual pieces for businesses and venues, this can either involve creative team building or direct response to a commissioning brief. We've attracted a few headlines in the press for our commissions over the years.

Corporate Commissions
Escape are not afraid of a challenge and have been asked to create a giant birthday cake installation on three separate occasions to celebrate Shakespeare Birthday Weekend Celebrations.
This involves a whole range of community engagement workshops in order to develop a final large scale public art installation.
Escape take on the planning, consultation, community engagement to create these large scale installations.
We can also create key pieces of artwork to support corporate publications.
In 2019 Escape were commissioned to provide 7 pieces of artwork by Chiltern Railways for their new London to Stratford timetables. Alan Riley, Customer Services Director at Chiltern Railways said, “We’re delighted that Escape Arts agreed to commission artwork for our new timetables. The work they produced looks fantastic and we’re pleased to support the creativity of talented young people and adults in the communities across our network.” Stratford Heralds Press Coverage
Yesterday and Today
Our Yesterday & Today project first started in 2014 when we started to renovate the Escape Arts and Heritage centre as part of Stratford Town Trust’s Community Challenge and just keeps growing.
Debenhams is a sad loss to the town and with the high street so very changed we at Escape Arts wanted to do something to make things better and to celebrate our rich heritage.
Designer and Photographer Phil Williams did an amazing job recreating Stratford scenes alongside the original images from private contributors and the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust. The next stage of this project was the development of the community space in Bell Court Stratford, which involved a vibrant pre-covid local community installation and fantastic artwork which was created over the 4 months prior to display.
This display showed off the wonderful work about peace created by children and young people for the 75th VE Day Celebrations and poetry written by the local community to commemorate upcoming VJ Day.
Remembrance Poppy Installation
In 2020, our team were simply overwhelmed by the support we received for The Remembrance Poppy Installation, displayed in Bell Court Stratford.
To have such a response across the pandemic was simply incredible, and such a wonderful way to remember all those who have and continue to serve to protect our freedom.
This response from the public and local community was also felt in 2021 where Escape Arts were proud to mark 100 years of the Royal British Legion Poppy Remembrance by filling Bell Court Debenhams with our fabulous poppies. Our poppies made their most recent appearance during our 25th Birthday Showcase at the Stratford Town Hall.
Some of the poppies were originally made for the Goodwill & Growth for Africa (GAGA) Remembrance Tree back in 2020, and since then have been repaired, cleaned and lovingly re-sewn to provide a mobile installation for lots of people to see at future events.
Superstars of Hope
During the pandemic we wanted to share a creative way for people to honour their hero of the year, key workers, family and best friends.
We received over 3000 messages full of hope and thanks, from schools, community groups, charities and families.
These Superstars of Hope were later displayed in the windows of Debenhams across the end of 2020 and the start of 2021.
