Nuneaton Escape Bookshelf: Pat's Shelf
Participants attending Escape Arts Nuneaton Escape community group worked with Artist Jonny Nicholds on the Double Negative project. The group decided that they would want to use this theme to show their real selves and speak their hidden truths. In discussions, we decided that a library was the ideal setting for showcasing their stories and memories. Each member created a shelf housing book spines which are personal to them. This is Pat's shelf.
Family: My name is Pat, I was born in Nuneaton in 1951 and am still living there. I married in 1970 and surprisingly still with the same man “ha, ha”. We have two children a boy and a girl, and two grandchildren, also a boy and a girl, and three great-grandsons, twins aged 7 and a newborn age six months. These boys are the “apples of my eyes”. Gemma, my grand-daughter, is mum to the three boys, and when she was two years old Father Christmas gave her a little conifer tree about 10 inches high, I planted it in my garden and it is now 10 feet high.
Travel: I have been very lucky and travelled to lots of places in Europe and the USA with my husband and son sharing the driving. Now that we are older we like to cruise, not only do we get to see different places, they serve nice cocktails that I am very passionate about “lol”. My favourite cocktail is Mai Tai “yummy!”. I love all the different colours and I use them a lot as subject in my crafts.
Arts and crafts: I have done many different crafts and hobbies, starting with cake making. I made lots of birthday cakes and wedding cakes, I did floristry mainly wreaths, jewellery-making, and my favourite hobby is card making.
